Ghostnote Percussion started as a wood lamination project at the University of Houston. The result is a 6.5"x14" snare drum, made from alternating plies of walnut and red oak which are individually laminated and veneered with redwood burl. The project involved making a mold, trimming and gluing the plies layer-by-layer, and vacuum bagging the final veneer. It was then finished in polyurethane, drilled, and topped off with gold-plated brass hardware. The snare badge was laser cut and bent using a heat gun and the mold.
